 My review:

 I just finished Anna......THANK GOODNESS I have Girl of Nightmares sitting right beside me! Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake is amazing! As Kirkus Reviews puts it "Stephen King ought to start looking over his shoulder."  She is an amazing story-teller. She puts her readers under a spell that is only broken once the last word is read. Even then, it is hard to come out from under! 

Anna Dressed in Blood is a ghost story, a love story, a horror story. Cas Lowood and his mother have been traveling the country in search of murderous ghosts for years.  Cas wields the power his father once held. The power to kill the dead.  When Cas hears the tale of Anna Dressed in Blood he seeks her out to kill her.

The events which ensue are ones you will have to read to believe. Ms. Blake has created a world of magic that will be sure to leave you with goosebumps and give you the chills. It is a great book to read on a chilly night under the covers.

Harry Potter Wizard's Collection

I LOVE Harry Potter. I cannot imagine a world without him. When this series first came out I was on the bandwagon with those who thought this series was "evil" because it was about witchcraft. And this was from the same folks who loved, loved, loved Lord of the Rings. I admit, I was listening without finding out for myself. BIG MISTAKE. Not just in the reading venue but in all of life.

I found a book entitled Looking for God in Harry Potter by John Granger (no relation to Hermione). :)  Looking for God in Harry Potter 

 

 Book Description:

Millions of children, even Christian children, are reading the mega-selling Harry Potter book series and are exposed to the Harry Potter movies. John Granger, a devout Christian, teacher of classic literature, and father of seven children, first read the Harry Potter books so he could explain to his children why they weren't allowed to read them. After intense study, however, he became convinced that the books are underestimated as literature--and reflect important Christian truths. In Looking for God in Harry Potter, Granger gives parents and teachers a roadmap for using the Harry Potter books to teach Christian truth to children.

I loved reading this book. It only covers up to The Order of the Phoenix, I believe, but it is well worth reading.

I don't feel that I have to defend my right to read whatever I want to, but this just goes to show you that you shouldn't ever judge a thing without finding out about it for yourself. As for those who think Lord of the Rings is ok and Harry Potter is not.....they haven't found out for themselves.

So now to the huge, exciting, awesome, amazing part of this......

My Amazing Mind :)

It is amazing the things you forgot you knew how to do until you have to do them. Things like making a book cover from a paper bag. I don't think I've covered a book with a paper bag in over 25 years. Maybe longer. I don't think we were allowed to use paper bags near the end of my high school years.

Anyway, today I had to cover my son's school books. He is a freshman and this is the first year he's ever been to a traditional school. He's always been home schooled. And who ever heard of covering your books for home school?

Well, I got out my handy dandy paper bag and made a cover. Just like that. I didn't even have to think about it. I guess it's like riding a bike. Although that's another thing I haven't done in years......

No this isn't my work. I'm too tired after making a book cover from a paper bag to take a picture :)
